Learning becomes more enjoyable when it is linked to something you are passionate about. I greatly enjoy learning the passions of my students, and creating or adapting work materials to incorporate those passions.
This custom made adapted Maths worksheet was specifically designed to better engage one of my clients.
This student (who had special needs) normally struggled to engage with classwork but had a strong interest in superheroes, with Captain America being his favourite.
I then superimposed one of his normal regular worksheets onto a background image featuring one or more of his favourite characters using photo editing software I put together an A3 sheet template featuring Captain America.
When I presented the adjusted worksheet to the student, his face lit up immediately and he immediately became greatly engaged in the task and was very eager to work hard.
